Mapping the change we support

The true impact of Farming the Future's work reaches far beyond what conventional metrics can show.

The initiatives and collaborations Farming the Future support generate ripple effects, shaping change in ways that are often emergent, interconnected, and not immediately visible. To understand and communicate this impact, we've used mapping and storytelling, centring the voices, experiences and relationships that bring these shifts to life. You can read more about the approach we take to impact in the blog Stehen Miller wrote about our work: "From Measurement to Meaning - the case of Farming the Future"

What has emerged is a growing capacity for collaboration: partners co-creating shared infrastructure, strengthening networks and responding collectively to systemic challenges in the agri-food system. Change happens through relationships, partnerships and place-based work that reconnects communities with land and food while helping to shift power more equitably.

Systems change is rarely linear or immediate. It develops over time through sustained collective effort and in response to local context. By funding with the interconnected nature of the food system in mind, we can support leadership, nurture partnerships and invest in infrastructure – creating forms of impact that are cumulative, relational and more powerful than any single intervention alone.

To do justice to the interconnectedness of the systemic work we resource and track we have created a special ReadyMag website to traces some of the connections, collaborations and ripple effects that have grown through the work funded by Farming the Future since 2019.
